Anticipation led up to the come down, the transition, and settling back in. I’ve learned these feelings do not wait around for me until I’m ready to receive them like waves pulling back from the ocean returning to where they once were. Here I am a few days after delivering an electrifying performance at this year's Texas Eclipse Festival in Austin, where a massive crowd of over 40,000 passionate souls congregated to revel in the euphoria of music, dance, and creativity. I find myself reflecting on the unforgettable experience.
When I said yes to the gig after taking a 9-year break to support my wife and our 3 kids, I forgot how much material it takes to fill 70 mins.
I quickly had to put my memorizing skills into effect, eventually performing a repertoire of 19 songs, including 14 that had never been played live before, with an amazing man named Terence, aka DJ Jedi.
As the performance gradually fades into my memories, I find solace in the moments of reflection that follow. This phase allows me to savor the essence of the experience and the emotions and insights it brings me.
Worry is but a misuse of imagination, and in its place, I choose to channel my energies into gratitude for the journey thus far and excitement for the paths that lie ahead.
